The Light Sometimes Twinkles

Remember when you knew how to tell a star from a planet
a star will twinkle
a planet will not

Indulge me for a moment because I have to digest this
we twinkle while we're here
loss, we can not plan it

God is a Wilco song
He is trying to break our hearts

And our friends are Flaming Lips
You have the most beautiful face

I gather my truths from memories
My tiny heart pumps
every day
thump
thump

thump

I swear to god it just skipped a beat
I've been thinking about you
I am thinking about you

My heart hurts with your memory
and that's never the way I wish to feel
so I will rearrange everything, for you

The light sometimes twinkles
for those who burn bright and make us feel alive

The light twinkles for you tonight

Metal

I had been dreaming about kittens and weddings
inevitable things that would happen soon and once I knew love

and now I am thinking about elbows again
knowing that love is everywhere
wondering why it is also taken from us

I find a pen outside my passenger door

and

it

just

hits

me

We are metal

Gold, silver, copper
characterized by a unique luster
when freshly fractured
brass
such a substance in its pure state
is
salt in a solution

It surprised me that I could still hear the sirens
through my open window
tonight
I thought
maybe
just for one night
nothing else
bad
could happen
but nothing can stop the world
not
even
you
or
loss

But I can stop myself
from ever worrying
again

Nobody Knows It

I is nothing but a name
lonesome,
howlin'
unreliable witness
in the mirror
eyeliner
lipstick stains
someone you would love
day drinker (w/strings)
...And I looked over

Sirens

and you are
what love is all about,
patience
man about
another town
listen now
things will change
you know I want to
when I think of you
everything is the same

take me or leave me

I hope he understands

Mosquitos

Writing for the sake of writing
warming up
wanting to do that thing that makes that thing
work

working working working

And the mosquitos sting
and it's a nuisance
and a bother but I don't mind
and almost enjoy the nuance of

flicking, slapping, scratching

Sin, Sincerity, and Syntax

Crown molding and beveled edges
beg for art
This is my view
of the world
divided by two
